Graduate student representation
The GSA Council advocates for the welfare and interests of the graduate student population.
Clubs and organizations
Connect with fellow graduate students in one of 30+ clubs, or start your own.
Computer loans
Borrow up to $1,500 to purchase a personal computer.
Free printing
The GSA office offers two computer workstations (normally six when social-distancing is not required) with free unlimited black and white printing.

Travel awards
Apply for up to $500 per year for attending conferences and workshops, both virtual and in-person.
Awards and scholarships
Compete for more than $90,000 in awards and scholarships.
Professional development
Workshops and seminars to help graduate students and postdoctoral fellows develop and enhance their professional skills.
Recognition
Graduate students are recognized at annual events, such as the GSA Poster/Research Symposium, the Three Minute Thesis Competition, and our Spring Awards Banquet.

Need-based services

Funding for families
The Children’s Assistance Program provides a limited number of $750 scholarships to help ensure success of graduate students who have children.
Financial crisis grants
We offer a limited number of $1,000 grants for graduate students experiencing sudden and unexpected financial crisis.
International student transitional loan
We offer loans of up to $500 to help incoming international students get reestablished in Reno.
Household items program
The GSA picks up donated household items, like furniture, dishes, and appliances, and delivers them to graduate students in need.
