Our statement on racism

The Honors College denounces all forms of racism, hate and bias and considers them antithetical to the letter and spirit of our mission. In order for Resilience, Ingenuity, Stewardship and Equity to succeed as programmatic and societal cornerstones, systemic racism and discrimination must never be a part of the educational process and our environment. We pledge to support our honors community by creating processes and structures that dismantle biases and privilege created both prior to and during our students’ honors journey and we will collaborate aggressively with partners across campus and in our community that pledge devotion to a society that ensures the safety, productivity, and unrestricted growth of all its members. The greatest diversity of race, ethnicity, religion, origin, citizenship status, sexual identity, gender identity, political affiliation, economic status, veteran status and ability is essential to the success of a contemporary Honors College, and we will actively create experiences and support mechanisms that engender and maintain a community of inclusion and care.
