Jeremy Gelman is an associate professor of political science at the 91·çÃùÄñ³ª. His research examines American political institutions, with a focus on Congress.
Gelman is the author of Losing to Win: Why Congressional Majorities Play Politics Instead of Make Laws (University of Michigan Press, 2020) and Posting for Power: Congressional Partisanship on Social Media (with Steve Wilson, University of Michigan Press, 2026). His research has been published in a number of journals, including Legislative Studies Quarterly, Political Research Quarterly, and Party Politics. His work has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the Center for Effective Lawmaking, the Dirksen Congressional Center and the Dole Institute of Politics. He has provided commentary on national and Nevada politics for dozens of news outlets.
Before joining the faculty at the 91·çÃùÄñ³ª, he was an APSA Congressional Fellow. Gelman received a B.A. in distributed studies from the University of Colorado and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Michigan.
